Thomas Burke (athlete)
Thomas Burke (Thomas Edmund "Tom" Burke; January 15, 1875 – February 14, 1929) was an American athlete. He was the first Olympic champion in the 100 and 400-meter dash races. Burke was the first Olympian in history to win a gold medal.
