The Tidings is a weekly newspaper published by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the largest Catholic archdiocese in the United States. The paper began publication in 1895 and is the oldest continuously published Catholic newspaper on the West Coast of the United States. It is also the oldest weekly newspaper in the Los Angeles market. It has a circulation of 80,000.

The Archdiocese reports that the paper reaches 230,000 active adult readers every week. Past issues dating back to 2005 are available on the paper's web site.

Mike Nelson is the editor. The staff writers are Paula Doyle, Bob Dellinger, Doris Benavides, and Hermine Lees. The editorial council consists of Monsignor Michael Bunny, chairman; Jeffrey Bonino-Britsch, director of operations at Verbum Dei High School; Reverend Ken Deasy; Elsie Dixon; Patrick Hayes; Ellie Hidalgo; Patricia Johnson; Linda Lynch; Sister Edith Prendergast, R.S.C.; and Reverend Thomas Rausch, S.J..

The paper regularly features the syndicated columns of George Weigel, Reverend Richard McBrien and Reverend Ronald Rolheiser, O.M.I.. It also occasionally features columns from Anne Hansen, a regional director of the Ignatian Volunteer Corps; Reverend Tom Ehrich, an Episcopalian priest; and Bill Peatman.
