The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada - The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Regimental Museum and Archives

The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Regimental Museum and Archives
Location Vancouver, British Columbia
Website http://seaforthhighlanders.ca/organization/seaforth-museum/

The mission of the museum is to collect, preserve, research and photograph material relating to the history of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, its former members and its site, and, through the appropriate display of such items, to convey this history to the currently serving members, the broader Canadian Forces community and the public.

The museum also serves as the 'Pattern Room' to the regimental family in that it maintains correct examples of badges, buttons and uniform items to serve as patterns when new or replacement items are to be purchased or made. For example, the museum provides blue patrol tunics, officer's mess jackets and waistcoats to tailors to refer to as they make new clothing for the regiment.

The museum is open to the public in its current location until Sunday, 13 May 2012, after which it will move to its new (and temporary) location at 39 Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters, 4050 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver. Interpreters are available (given reasonable notice) to conduct tours in French, Russian, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Italian, most of the Balkan languages and Scots Gaelic.

Because the new location is located within an area not normally accessible to the public, the museum staff are in the process of scanning and photographing the entire collection – every artifact, poster, photograph, painting and drawing will be displayed on the museum page of the official website, and several thousand feet of film and VHS will be converted to digital format and posted on the website as well.

In time, the entire archive of some quarter-million pages will also be put online.

The museum is affiliated with: Canadian Museums Association, Canadian Heritage Information Network, Organization of Military Museums of Canada and Virtual Museum of Canada.

I do not consider divorce an evil by any means. It is just as much a refuge for women married to brutal men as Canada was to the slaves of brutal masters.
