The Mother of All Talk Shows

The Mother of All Talk Shows was a British talk radio show hosted by George Galloway on talkSPORT. The program used to air each Friday and Saturday night between 10pm and 1am.

Since its inception on 11 March 2006, The Mother Of All Talk Shows had pulled in record call numbers and the highest ever ratings for a weekend program. The show started with the theme song from 1960s cartoon Top Cat, followed by an extemporary monologue by Galloway, dealing primarily with political issues, economics, international relations, political philosophy, and other topical issues. The title refers to "The Mother of All Battles", a phrase used by Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein in reference to the 1991 Gulf War.

Galloway halted presenting the show on 27 March 2010, due to campaign commitments in the 2010 UK General Election.

Famous quotes containing the words mother, talk and/or shows:

    Once a child has demonstrated his capacity for independent functioning in any area, his lapses into dependent behavior, even though temporary, make the mother feel that she is being taken advantage of....What only yesterday was a description of the child’s stage in life has become an indictment, a judgment.
    Elaine Heffner (20th century)

    Of all the words mentioned in language, there is not one that I hate more than the word “right.” Is it your right that your field prospers? That you don’t drop dead this very instant? Are living and breathing your right? As far as I can see, nothing but grace and blessing fill the universe, and these worms talk about right?
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)

    The deepest feeling always shows itself in silence;
    not in silence, but restraint.
    Marianne Moore (1887–1972)
