Sports
Kinkaid sports teams compete in the Southwest Preparatory Conference of the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest. A big alumni event is the Kinkaid vs. St. John's School football game played each year at Rice Stadium, with the winning record belonging to Kinkaid. Kinkaid offers multiple sports per each sports season (fall, winter, and spring). In the fall they offer football (boys only), cross country, volleyball, cheerleading, and field hockey (girls only). In the winter they offer soccer, basketball, wrestling (boys only), and swimming. In the spring they offer lacrosse, baseball (boys only), softball (girls only), track & field, tennis, and golf.

Famous quotes containing the word sports:
“Sweet smiling village, loveliest of the lawn,
Thy sports are fled and all thy charms withdrawn;
Amidst thy bowers the tyrants hand is seen,
And desolation saddens all thy green;
One only master grasps the whole domain,
And half a tillage stints thy smiling plain;”
—Oliver Goldsmith (1730?1774)
“...I didnt come to this with any particular cachet. I was just a person who grew up in the United States. And when I looked around at the people who were sportscasters, I thought they were just people who grew up in the United States, too. So I thought, Why cant a woman do it? I just assumed everyone else would think it was a swell idea.”
—Gayle Gardner, U.S. sports reporter. As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 85 (June 17, 1991)
“There be some sports are painful, and their labor
Delight in them sets off. Some kinds of baseness
Are nobly undergone, and most poor matters
Point to rich ends.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
