The Idle Race

The Idle Race were a British rock group from Birmingham in the late 1960s and early 1970s who had a cult following but never enjoyed mass commercial success. In addition to being the springboard for Jeff Lynne, the band holds a place of significance in British Midlands' pop-rock history as a link between The Move, the Electric Light Orchestra, Steve Gibbons Band and Mike Sheridan and The Nightriders.

Famous quotes containing the words idle and/or race:

    If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumbered here
    While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

I don’t like the idea of the black race being diluted out of existence. I like the idea of all of us being here.
    Gwendolyn Brooks (b. 1917)
