Sequel
The Expendables 2 was released on August 17, 2012 and went on to out-gross the first movie with $312.5 million as well as receiving a more positive critical response. Expendables 3 is currently in development. In April 2012, Steven Seagal was offered a role in the film but there has yet to be news on his confirmation. On December 18th 2012, Jackie Chan signed on to play a substantial role. Chan was personally offered a role by Sylvester Stallone in the second film, but was not able to due to commitments to his 2012 film CZ12. Stallone then extended his invitation to Chan for the third film. Chan also agreed on the condition that he would appear as more than just a minor role with a few scenes. Nicolas Cage has also signed on to play a character in this film.
