Tenno Sho - Multiple Winners

Multiple Winners

Prior to 1980, a horse winning any Tennō Shō races was not allowed to participate in Tennō Shō in the future again, which this bar was lifted in 1981.

Only 5 horses to date could win back to back, either by winning both Spring and Autumn race in same year or winning the Autumn race, and following year's Spring race.

  • Tamamo Cross (1988 Spring, Autumn)
  • Super Creek (1989 Autumn, 1990 Spring)
  • Special Week (1999 Spring, Autumn)
  • T M Opera O (2000 Spring and Autumn, 2001 Spring)
  • Meisho Samson (2007 Spring and Autumn)

The 3 horse below were non-back to back multiple winners.

  • Mejiro McQueen (1991-1992 Spring, finished 1st in 1991 Autumn but demoted to last)
  • Rice Shower (1993,1995 Spring)
  • Symboli Kris S (2002-2003 Autumn)

Famous quotes containing the words multiple and/or winners:

Combining paid employment with marriage and motherhood creates safeguards for emotional well-being. Nothing is certain in life, but generally the chances of happiness are greater if one has multiple areas of interest and involvement. To juggle is to diminish the risk of depression, anxiety, and unhappiness.
    Faye J. Crosby (20th century)

The two real political parties in America are the Winners and the Losers. The people don’t acknowledge this. They claim membership in two imaginary parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, instead.
