Tennis At The Summer Universiade
Tennis has been a part of the Summer Universiade program since the games' first edition in 1959, with the exception of the 1989 Games. Men's and women's singles; and men's, women's, and mixed doubles have been contested at each edition. Bronze medal matches were contested until the 1991 Games; two bronze medals have been given at each competition since.
Past medalists include Grand Slam singles champion Nikola Pilić; doubles champions Gigi Fernández, Fred McNair, Olga Morozova, Larisa Savchenko, Tomáš Šmíd, and Ion Țiriac; mixed doubles champion Rika Hiraki; 1984 Olympic runner-up Sabrina Goleš, 1992 Olympic bronze medalist Leila Meskhi, and 2004 Olympic doubles gold medalist Li Ting.
