Tennessee Department Of Revenue

The Tennessee Department of Revenue is an agency within the Tennessee state government of about 1600 people which is responsible for the "administration of state tax laws and motor vehicle title and registration laws established by the legislature and the collection of taxes and fees associated with those laws."

The department has been led by Commissioner Reagan Farr since January 2007. Farr first joined the department in 2003 as the Assistant Commissioner for Tax Administration. He became the Deputy Commissioner in 2004.

In addition to overseeing tax law administration, the department is also responsible for enforcing "the revenue laws fairly and impartially in an effort to encourage voluntary taxpayer compliance."
