Professional Development
Teachers and staff at T.H.S. receive district-provided professional development training. Six additional minimum days were added to the 2004/05 calendar and another six were added to the 2005/06 calendar to provide collaborative time for the middle and high schools. In 2006/07, the district instituted Professional Learning Community (PLC) early release Wednesdays. Students were released approximately an hour early on Wednesdays to allow staff additional collaboration time.
Inservices, workshops and conferences provide additional information and training on specific curricular areas, especially in the areas of language arts, mathematics, and social science. Extensive work has also been done to align the curricular areas to state standards and to develop multiple assessments to guide instruction.

Famous quotes containing the words professional and/or development:
“... a supportive husband is an absolute requirement for professional women.... He is something she looks for, and when she finds him, she marries him.”
—Alice S. Rossi (b. 1922)
“... work is only part of a mans life; play, family, church, individual and group contacts, educational opportunities, the intelligent exercise of citizenship, all play a part in a well-rounded life. Workers are men and women with potentialities for mental and spiritual development as well as for physical health. We are paying the price today of having too long sidestepped all that this means to the mental, moral, and spiritual health of our nation.”
—Mary Barnett Gilson (1877?)
