Plan of 2002
The current plan, designated E.164/2002, has been in effect since 2002. The E.164 numbering plan is a closed numbering plan. Another major change from the previous system was the transition to a dial plan in which the area code is also required for local calls. The plan was amended a few times, e.g., the transition of numbering zone 01 into 044.
