Mission Statement
Founded in 1862 in Saint John, the Telegraph-Journal is Saint John's daily newspaper, but also New Brunswick's provincial newspaper. The Telegraph-Journal is the forum for all New Brunswickers to discuss, understand, and debate the big issues. The goal of the newspaper is to enlarge the debate, find consensus - and drive the vision of the province. In short, our mission is to make New Brunswick better informed. Saint John, the province's oldest and largest city, is home to many of the regions largest corporations, and is poised to become the industrial engine for the province. As such, Saint John is a logical home for the provincial newspaper. Each day, the interests of the greater Saint John community and the province are balanced within our pages. The Telegraph-Journal is about big ideas - for the province, for Saint John, and for your business."

Famous quotes containing the words mission and/or statement:
“... [a] girl one day flared out and told the principal the only mission opening before a girl in his school was to marry one of those candidates [for the ministry]. He said he didnt know but it was. And when at last that same girl announced her desire and intention to go to college it was received with about the same incredulity and dismay as if a brass button on one of those candidates coats had propounded a new method for squaring the circle or trisecting the arc.”
—Anna Julia Cooper (18591964)
“He that writes to himself writes to an eternal public. That statement only is fit to be made public, which you have come at in attempting to satisfy your own curiosity.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
