Citizens in Space
In 2012, the United States Rocket Academy announced a major change to the Teachers in Space program. The revised program, which is no longer affiliated with the Space Frontier Foundation, will emphasize citizen science as well as citizen spaceflight. Private, religious, and home-school teachers will now be eligible to apply. Citizens in Space will also include informal educators, university students, and other citizen scientists and citizen astronauts.

Famous quotes containing the words citizens and/or space:
“The two great points of difference between a democracy and a republic are: first, the delegation of the government, in the latter, to a small number of citizens elected by the rest; secondly, the greater number of citizens and greater sphere of country over which the latter may be extended.”
—James Madison (17511836)
“Not so many years ago there there was no simpler or more intelligible notion than that of going on a journey. Travelmovement through spaceprovided the universal metaphor for change.... One of the subtle confusionsperhaps one of the secret terrorsof modern life is that we have lost this refuge. No longer do we move through space as we once did.”
—Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)
