Tabard - Use For Battle

Use For Battle

A Tabard was not solely used for faction identification on the battlefield. Armor was expensive and hard to craft. Therefore it was easier to repair armor damaged in battle; however, repaired armor offered less protection as new. Hence, the term "chinks in the armor" referred to damaged areas that had been repaired and were an obvious target of a enemy. It was much cheaper to fashion a tabard that covered the armor hiding the chinks and reducing the image of the wearer as an easy target.

Famous quotes containing the word battle:

If you are willing to inconvenience yourself in the name of discipline, the battle is half over. Leave Grandma’s early if the children are acting impossible. Depart the ballpark in the sixth inning if you’ve warned the kids and their behavior is still poor. If we do something like this once, our kids will remember it for a long time.
