Famous quotes containing the words swift, current and/or electoral:
“Now hardly here and there an hackney coach
Appearing, showed the ruddy morns approach.
Now Betty from her masters bed had flown,
And softly stole to discompose her own;
The slipshod prentice from his masters door
Had pared the dirt, and sprinkled round the floor.”
—Jonathan Swift (16671745)
“Men perceive that equating love and domestic work is a trap. They fear that to get involved with housework would send them hurtling into the bottomless pit of self-sacrifice that is womens current caring roles.”
—Debbie Taylor (20th century)
“Power is action; the electoral principle is discussion. No political action is possible when discussion is permanently established.”
—Honoré De Balzac (17991850)
