Sunday Times Fast Track 100 - Limitations

Limitations

The Fast Track 100 is generally promoted as the definitive guide to the fastest growing privately held companies in the UK. Richard Branson is quoted as saying "Fast Track has become the definitive barometer of growth companies" However a number of limitations exists which mean that the list may not contain information on many fast growing companies. Most important of these is the reliance on historical data. Because Fast Track only deals in publicly available information generally from published accounts, the league table refers to data that is sometimes as much as 10 months out of date.

On the other hand, this method ensures objectivity and has led to the early identification of a number of household names, including Carphone Warehouse, Bhs and Travelex.

Famous quotes containing the word limitations:

The motion picture made in Hollywood, if it is to create art at all, must do so within such strangling limitations of subject and treatment that it is a blind wonder it ever achieves any distinction beyond the purely mechanical slickness of a glass and chromium bathroom.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

The only rules comedy can tolerate are those of taste, and the only limitations those of libel.
    James Thurber (1894–1961)

Much of what contrives to create critical moments in parenting stems from a fundamental misunderstanding as to what the child is capable of at any given age. If a parent misjudges a child’s limitations as well as his own abilities, the potential exists for unreasonable expectations, frustration, disappointment and an unrealistic belief that what the child really needs is to be punished.
    Lawrence Balter (20th century)
