Production
Large amounts of the mined celestite (SrSO4) are converted to the carbonate by two processes. Either the celestite is directly leached with sodium carbonate solution or the celestite is roasted with coal to form the sulfide. The formed material normaly called black ash after disolving the material and filtration the carbonate is precipitated with carbon dioxide.
