Famous quotes containing the words state and/or services:

But one day he met a man who was a whole lot badder,
And now he’s dead, and we ain’t none the sadder.
—Administration in the State of Texa, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

I grant it; but between the independent wage-earner and the one who is given his keep for his services is the difference between the free-born and the chattel.
    Elizabeth M. Gilmer (1861–1951)
