Stars (Simply Red Album)

Stars is the fourth album by British pop/soul/jazz band Simply Red, released in September 1991. Five singles were released from the album including the UK top ten hits "Stars" and "For Your Babies". Domestically it was a huge hit, becoming the best selling album in the UK for both 1991 and 1992 and according to the BPI certification of 12 times platinum, the joint 6th highest selling album of all time in the UK. It was also the last album to feature much-loved member Tim Kellett, a close friend of Hucknall, who started his own band after touring. The album has sold over 11 million copies to date. Stars is also the only album to feature Fritz Mcintyre singing lead vocals .

In 2000 Q magazine placed Stars at number 80 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever.

It was re-issued in 2008 as a Collectors Edition: 2CD: Bonus DVD: Digipack. On 20 April 2008, a copy of the album was given away with the British newspaper The Mail on Sunday.

    Shake off your heavy trance,
    and leap into a dance,
Such as no mortals use to tread,
    fit only for Apollo
To play to, for the Moon to lead,
And all the Stars to follow.

We work harder than ever, and I cannot see the advantages in cooperative living.
