Dates of Conventions
The 1st StarCon, aka Star-Con, was October 31 to November 2, 1973 at Cobo Hall in Detroit. It had NO affiliation to the conventions run at Oakland University, by Steve Sundahl (OAK CON) from 1973 to 1977 and The Oakland University NOVA, run by the Order of Leibowitz Sci-Fi Club Star-Con was a Star Trek/Science Fiction/Comic Book Convention put on by David William Lillard (born 1947 in Detroit). Guests included George Takei, Walter Keonig, DC Fontana, Harlan Ellison, Loyd Biggle Jr, Norman Spinrad, David Gerrold and many others - especially Comic Book creators.
Subsequent StarCons were held at the Detroit Hilton Hotel, Detroit Book-Cadillac Hotel and the Sentinel Center.
