An Alumnus of St Virgil's College is known as an 'Old Virgilian' and may elect to join the school's alumni association, the Old Virgilians' Association. The Association was established in 1916 as a way for Old Virgilians to meet regularly and keep in touch with news about the College. Some notable Old Virgilians include:

  • Associate Professor Jeff Coombes, BEd(Hons), BAppSc, MEd(UTas), PhD(Florida). Jeff Coombes is an Associate Professor in the school of Human Movement Studies. He completed undergraduate degrees in applied science and education and a research Masters at the University of Tasmania before gaining a PhD from the University of Florida. After completing his PhD he returned to Australia to spend two years in an academic position at the University of Tasmania before moving to the University of Queensland in 2000.

  • Associate Professor Marek Havlat MBBS, BMedSci, FRCPA, DipCytoRCPath, FRCPath, FFPathRCPI, FASCP, FIAC. Associate Professor at St John of God and University of Notre Dame Fremantle. He is an anatomical pathologist and cytopathologist with interests in pathology teaching, dermatopathology and neuropathology. A/Prof Havlat joined St John of God Pathology in 2001 and is currently the Deputy Director of Histo/Cytopathology. A/Prof Havlat received a Diploma of Cytopathology by examination in 2009 under the auspices of the Royal College of Pathologists and has also received the School of Medicine Dean's Teaching Excellence Award in 2010 from the University of Notre Dame Fremantle. He has recently been appointed Director of Registrar Teaching at St John's and Deputy Director of Anatomical Pathology.
