Football

The St. Petersburg High School football team was ranked #4 in the state of Florida during the 2010-2011 season before being upset in the first round of the district playoffs by Venice High School.

Since then they have had some prominent players go on to NCAA Division I colleges (including David Jones, Jerremy Kerr, and Sean Covington ).

Basketball

During the 2011-2012 season, their basketball team advanced all the way to the state final four before losing to eventual state champion Blanche Ely.

Track and Field

During the 2011-2012 season, IB junior Cayman Ellis posted a perfect record during the regular season winning every meet he competed in, notably the Jimmy Carnes Indoor Meet and the Ed Wells Kiwanis Invitational. Eventually he finished first place in both the district and regional finals before receiving a "no height" in the state finals. During his senior year, he once again placed first at both the district and regional finals and he was able to redeem himself by winning the Florida 4A State title posting a height of 14-6.

In addition to Cayman Ellis, their track and field team has had many talented athletes including, IB students Sam Chandler in the 3200 meters (c/o 2013) and Francis Mora in the 110m and 300m hurdles (c/o 2014) and traditional program students David Jones in the 200m and long jump (c/o 2012) and Jerremy Kerr in the discus and shot put (c/o 2013).

Golf

In 2012, senior Jack Maguire won the Class 2A state title while also being named Pinellas County player of the year. He was Pinellas County's first individual boys state champion since 1996.
