Montreal is famous for its hockey-hungry fans. The Montreal Canadiens is one of the largest franchises in the NHL. Montreal is also home to the Montreal Stars a women's professional ice hockey team that won the Clarkson Cup in 2009 and in 2011.
Montreal's off-island suburb of Boisbriand is home to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
