Speedway Knockout Cup

The Knockout Cup (sometimes referred to as the KOCup) is a motorcycle speedway competition run annually. There is one competition in each of the three Speedway Leagues, that is to say there is an Elite League Knockout Cup, a Premier League Knockout Cup and a National League Knockout Cup for the sport's three leagues: the Elite League, Premier League and the National League. Famous quotes containing the words speedway and/or cup:

The improved American highway system ... isolated the American-in-transit. On his speedway ... he had no contact with the towns which he by-passed. If he stopped for food or gas, he was served no local fare or local fuel, but had one of Howard Johnson’s nationally branded ice cream flavors, and so many gallons of Exxon. This vast ocean of superhighways was nearly as free of culture as the sea traversed by the Mayflower Pilgrims.
    Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)

The cup of Morgan Fay is shattered.
    Life is a bitter sage,
    And we are weary infants
    In a palsied age.
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)
