Famous quotes containing the words temporal, receptive and/or field:
“Listen to any musical phrase or rhythm, and grasp it as a whole, and you thereupon have present in you the image, so to speak, of the divine knowledge of the temporal order.”
—Josiah Royce (18551916)
“We tend to be so bombarded with information, and we move so quickly, that theres a tendency to treat everything on the surface level and process things quickly. This is antithetical to the kind of openness and perception you have to have to be receptive to poetry. ... poetry seems to exist in a parallel universe outside daily life in America.”
—Rita Dove (b. 1952)
“Love to chawnk green apples an go swimmin in the
lake.
Hate to take the castor-ile they give for belly-ache!
Most all the time, the whole year round, there aint no flies on
me,
But jest fore Christmas Im as good as I kin be!”
—Eugene Field (18501895)
