History
The plans to develop open pastures into an upscale downtown for the City of Southlake began back in the 90's. Shortly after plans were approved by the city council, Cooper & Stebbins began developing phase I of the Southlake Town Square master plan. Phase I consisted of 250,000 sq ft of the Southlake Town Hall, City of Southlake Public Library, a signature square with extensive landscaping, Rustin Park with a gazebo and pond, four blocks of retail with office overhead, and the only Post Office in the area. Once phase I was built, Southlake Town Square quickly became a hit. In 2006, Cooper & Stebbins opened phase II of Southlake Town Square . Promised to be more entertainment than the original phase, the later phase has become synonymous with fashion and entertainment with luxury boutiques such as Michael Kors, Coach, Oakley, and J.Crew. Centered around a cobblestone fountain plaza reminiscent of Europe, phase II is now the busiest part of Southlake Town Square. The Cheesecake Factory, Truluck's Crab House, and Capania Pizza lure in people from all over to dine after a days worth of shopping. People began to spread the word throughout the years, and thus Southlake Town Square has become a regional destination for the entire Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“The best history is but like the art of Rembrandt; it casts a vivid light on certain selected causes, on those which were best and greatest; it leaves all the rest in shadow and unseen.”
—Walter Bagehot (18261877)
“Indeed, the Englishmans history of New England commences only when it ceases to be New France.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Let us not underrate the value of a fact; it will one day flower in a truth. It is astonishing how few facts of importance are added in a century to the natural history of any animal. The natural history of man himself is still being gradually written.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
