Though the gardens have been closed since 2010 for some managerial reasons, it was announced that they will reopen July 6th 2013 under a new owner.

Famous quotes containing the words botanical and/or gardens:

Evolution was all over my chldhood, walks abroad with an evolutionist and the world was full of evolution, biological and botanical evolution.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)

The ocean is a wilderness reaching round the globe, wilder than a Bengal jungle, and fuller of monsters, washing the very wharves of our cities and the gardens of our sea-side residences. Serpents, bears, hyenas, tigers rapidly vanish as civilization advances, but the most populous and civilized city cannot scare a shark far from its wharves.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
