Sonae (Sonae SGPS, S.A.) ( listen) is a conglomerate, and is the largest private employer in Portugal. Sonae is a retail company that operates in food and non food retail stores including sports goods, apparel and consumer electronics and appliances. The company is primarily engaged in the operation of retail stores through its subsidiary Modelo Continente. The Company is also involved in the telecommunication businesses through Optimus Telecomunicações.
