Soft Ballet

Soft Ballet was a Japanese electronica band formed in 1986. The group had three official members: Maki Fujii, Ken Morioka, Ryoichi Endo and a fourth unofficial female vocalist. They disbanded in 1995 after a major concert at the NHK Hall although reunited in 2002 for a special occasion. They were pioneers in modern electronic music and their style and fashion heavily influenced Japanese pop and rock artists throughout the 90s.

They are occasionally political; their album Love and Peace is largely a criticism of the United States' involvement in the Gulf War. For their 2002 album Symbiont, the band updated their sound to take advantage of more modern synthesizer technology while maintaining the aggressive atmosphere of their previous albums.

Famous quotes containing the words soft and/or ballet:

By constant dripping, water hollows stone,
A signet-ring from use alone grows thin,
And the curved plowshare by soft earth is worn.
    Ovid (Publius Ovidius Naso)

Anyone who has a child today should train him to be either a physicist or a ballet dancer. Then he’ll escape.
