Soft and Wet

"Soft and Wet" is a song written by Prince. It was his first single, released in 1978 from his debut album, For You. The track is in the funk-disco vein, comprising drums, bass guitar and synthesizers.

The lyrics were co-written by Chris Moon, the producer/songwriter/engineer who discovered Prince in Minneapolis. The song peaked at number 92 (two weeks) on the US Hot 100 chart on November 25, 1978.

MC Hammer sampled from this song in his version called "She's Soft and Wet" from the album Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em.

Famous quotes containing the words soft and, soft and/or wet:

A mother’s life, you see, is one long succession of dramas, now soft and tender, now terrible. Not an hour but has its joys and fears.
    HonorĂ© De Balzac (1799–1850)

We are prisoners of the world’s demented sink.
The soft enchantments of our years of innocence
    Are harvested by accredited experience
Our fondest memories soon turn to poison
And only oblivion remains in season.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)

Like a wet log, I sang within a flame.
In that last while, eternity’s confine,
I came to love, I came into my own.
    Theodore Roethke (1908–1963)
