Being one of the two SM Supermalls to be opened in the year 1997 (the other being SM City Fairview), SM Prime Holdings prides itself to be a leading shopping mall developer in the Philippines. Construction of the mall started in 1996 as a 3-level shopping complex. However, due to demands of Bacoor municipal government and the residents to make the shopping complex much bigger, and due to growing population of the municipality that time, SM Prime Holdings then decided to make it a 5-level shopping complex, enough to accommodate and serve the needs of people of Bacoor and its neighboring towns. The grand opening of the mall was held on July 25, 1997.
