Fenestrae

The fenestrae (from Latin, meaning windows) are openings in the skull.

  • Antorbital fenestra
  • Mandibular fenestra
  • Palatal fenestra, as found in Marsupials
  • Quadratojugal fenestra
  • Subsquamosal fenestra, an opening between two parts of the squamosal bone in some rodents
  • Temporal fenestra

Ceratopsia dinosaurs may have fenestrae in their frills.
