Sial Tribe

The Sial tribe (also written as 'Siyal', 'Syal', 'Sayal') is a Khatri or Kshatriya (in Sanskrit used to describe the warriors in the traditional Hindu varna system) Cast like Anand, Kapoor, Khanna, Malhotra, Rai etc who are a north Indian community. Some of them have the origin in Rajasthan/Haryana (before 1965, it used to be the part of Panjab)/UP as well. This region is historically connected with the composition of the Vedas and classics like the Mahabharata and Ashtadhyayi. In the old varna (caste) system the Kshatriya were members of the Hindu military order who as administrators and rulers, were tasked with protecting Hindu Dharma, and serving humanity. In the course of time, however, as a result of economic and political exigencies, Khatris also expanded into mercantile occupations. It is said that the empires of that era with an objective to dilute the power of Hindus, stopped recruiting the Khatris in their Army, so Khatris were left with no option other than to establish their own business. All Sikh Gurus were Khatris, and their Army fought for the weak and needy. Unlike other Kshatriya clans with roots in UP,Bihar,Rajasthan, MP etc who either submitted or had an agreement/contract for continuing their provinces, they fought bravely and with immense courage.

After partition, they were the most affected ones. Precisely, they paid with their lands and villages on behalf of whole India. India as a country though never acknowledged and always thinks that it did the favor to these people by allowing them to migrate to India, but the fact and so as claimed by Khatris is, "it is their right to live in India".

Sials are found among Jatts, Rajputs and Khatris

There is also branch of Sial Jatts originating predominantly from the Jhang District of northern Punjab, Pakistan. The Sials are predominantly Muslims here, in this country, today.

They are a Punjabi, Sindhi and Baluchi found among Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus and Christians in Pakistan and India. After the independence of Pakistan, Hindu and Sikh Sials migrated from West Punjab to East Punjab in India. Muslim Sials live in Pakistan while non-Muslims in India. Among Sikhs the Sials are predominantly Jatt/Rajput/Khatri, however, there are Sials in Jafarabad, Nasirabad and Bolan districts of Balochistan. Sials living in Punjab, Sindh & Balochistan speak Punjabi, Sindhi and Siraiki. There are also Rind Sial a Baloch tribe.
