Sheth

Sheth or Seth or Saith (Urdu: ﺳﯾﭨﻬ ‎) was a title of greatness, generally prefixed to the name of big businessmen, money lenders or rich persons of town in South Asia. The Sheth surname is quite common in Gujarat, Punjab and some Pakistani areas. The title is still used but less often. In older days another titles like Nagar Seth or Shethji were in use to denote richest person of the town. ( Nagar translates to town ). There are many Urdu, Hindi and other Indian languages idioms, where in Sheth / Seth term is used.
