Following the toll collection at the Salak Jaya toll plaza was abolished on 25 February 2009. the Works Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd. Zin Mohamad announced the future expansion of the expressway to the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 near Pandan Indah, whose concession will be awarded to Besraya. The 12.3 km (7.6 mi) extension will be mostly elevated.
