Famous quotes containing the words fictional, character and/or biography:
“One of the proud joys of the man of lettersif that man of letters is an artistis to feel within himself the power to immortalize at will anything he chooses to immortalize. —Edmond De Goncourt (18221896)
“Happy will that house be in which the relations are formed from character; after the highest, and not after the lowest order; the house in which character marries, and not confusion and a miscellany of unavowable motives.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“The best part of a writers biography is not the record of his adventures but the story of his style.”
—Vladimir Nabokov (18991977)
