Sunshine

Yvette Sarah "Sunshine" Martyn (born 1985) entered the house as a 24-year-old medical student originally from Peterborough but living in Leicester. She announced on April 1, 2011 that she had graduated as a doctor from the University of Leicester, she also has a First class honours degree in Medical Journalism from the University of Westminster. She currently works as a doctor at Lincoln County Hospital. During her time in the house her colleagues stated that she was known as Dr Sparkle in the hospital and had gained the nickname Sunshine due to her positive attitude and continuously happy nature. She claims to have had three near-death experiences on her travels around the world: being mugged at knifepoint in Turkey, accidentally overdosing in India on anti-malarial medication and being bitten by a poisonous spider in Australia. She is single and lives with her pet Chihuahua. She entered the house on Day 1 and was evicted on Day 24 with Davina announcing it was a closely fought race with Caiomhe. Despite leaving on Day 24 Sunshine was voted the 30th best Big Brother housemate of all time, beating almost all of the Big Brother 2010 housemates including: Josie, Mario, John James and Dave. At the Big Brother final Sunshine revealed that she had returned to her medical degree. Sunshine also holds the record for receiving the most nominations in one week in the history of the UK show; she received ten nominations in Week 1, but was still not evicted.

Famous quotes containing the word sunshine:

The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it NOW deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.
    Thomas Paine (1737–1809)

Hume’s doctrine was that the circumstances vary, the amount of happiness does not; that the beggar cracking fleas in the sunshine under a hedge, and the duke rolling by in his chariot; the girl equipped for her first ball, and the orator returning triumphant from the debate, had different means, but the same quantity of pleasant excitement.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

There would be no sunshine in society if the born flatterers, I mean the so-called amiable people, did not bring it in with them.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
