Selinsgrove Area School District is a mid sized, suburban/rural public school district centered in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. The Selinsgrove Area School District encompasses approximately 105 square miles (270 km2). According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 21,015 people. In 2010 the District's population increased to 22,259 people. In 2009, the district residents’ per capita income was $17,857, while the median family income was $44,742. In the Commonwealth, the median family income was $49,501 and the United States median family income was $49,445, in 2010. District enrollment has declined to approximately 2700 students clustered on a campus located in the borough of Selinsgrove. The Pennsylvania Department of Education projected a continued decline in enrollment to 2,500 in 2010. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Selinsgrove Area School District had 784 students receiving free or reduced lunches due to low family income in the 2007-2008 school year. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Selinsgrove Area School Districts had 71 students who were identified as English language learners in 2008. The district serves eastern Snyder County. It is headed by a superintendent and a nine member board of directors who are elected at large and serve a 4 year term.
