Season Of The Witch (song)

"Season of the Witch" is one of the first psychedelic songs, written by Donovan and first released in September 1966 on his Epic Records (USA) album, Sunshine Superman. In the United Kingdom, a cover version by The Pandamonium was released as a single in November 1966 (CBS 202462), while Donovan's version was finally released in June 1967 on the Pye Records compilation Sunshine Superman.

The recording features Bobby Ray on bass and "Fast" Eddie Hoh on drums. The run-time for the song is 4:56, unusual for an era when the typical pop song ran perhaps 2:30.

Famous quotes containing the words season and/or witch:

The theater is a baffling business, and a shockingly wasteful one when you consider that people who have proven their worth, who have appeared in or been responsible for successful plays, who have given outstanding performances, can still, in the full tide of their energy, be forced, through lack of opportunity, to sit idle season after season, their enthusiasm, their morale, their very talent dwindling to slow gray death. Of finances we will not even speak; it is too sad a tale.
    Ilka Chase (1905–1978)

A witch is one who worketh by the Devil or by some curious art either healing or revealing things secret, or foretelling things to come which the Devil hath devised to ensnare men’s souls withal unto damnation. The conjurer, the enchanter, the sorcerer, the diviner, and whatever other sort there is encompassed within this circle.
    George Gifford (16th century)
