Sderot: Rock in The Red Zone

Sderot: Rock in the Red Zone is the title of a documentary film scheduled for release in 2009 about the many rock and roll bands that have come out of Sderot, a town in southern Israel that has been under almost daily attack for many years by Qassam rockets fired from Gaza by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Young musicians use one of the town's bomb shelters as a rock and roll club.

The director/producer is Laura Bialis.

Famous quotes containing the words rock, red and/or zone:

The forest waves, the morning breaks,
The pastures sleep, ripple the lakes,
Leaves twinkle, flowers like persons be
And life pulsates in rock or tree.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The complaint ... about modern steel furniture, modern glass houses, modern red bars and modern streamlined trains and cars is that all these objets modernes, while adequate and amusing in themselves, tend to make the people who use them look dated. It is an honest criticism. The human race has done nothing much about changing its own appearance to conform to the form and texture of its appurtenances.
    —E.B. (Elwyn Brooks)

In the zone of perdition where my youth went as if to complete its education, one would have said that the portents of an imminent collapse of the whole edifice of civilization had made an appointment.
    Guy Debord (b. 1931)
