Current Drivers

Jenson Button made his Formula One debut in 2000 at the age of 20, making him the youngest British driver to compete in the sport. He started his career with Williams, scoring a point in his second race. He would later race for British American Racing, a team that would then be purchased by Honda with whom he would win his first race, the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix. Following the 2008 season, Honda decided to withdraw from F1, and the team was saved by a management buyout. The team returned Brawn GP and saw immediate success. Button went on to achieve his most significant F1 successes, winning six of the first seven races in 2009 on the way to the world title. In 2010, he moved to McLaren, for whom he has raced ever since. He has won races in every season since 2009.

Lewis Hamilton made his debut with McLaren in 2007. He had an impressive rookie year, and managed to finish on the podium in each of his first nine races: a record which stands to this day. He achieved his first win at the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix and came within one point of winning the world title in his rookie season. He made up for this defeat in his second year, winning the 2008 title by a single point. He continued to race for McLaren until the end of the 2012 season, and won races in each of his six seasons with the team. He has moved to Mercedes for the 2013 season.

Scottish driver Paul di Resta, the cousin of four-time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti, has been driving for Force India since his debut in 2011. He scored points in his first two races and finished 13th in the championship that year, with a total of 27 points. In 2012, despite scoring 46 points, he finished one place lower in the world championship, in 14th.

Max Chilton secured a drive with the Marussia team for the 2013 Formula One season.

Famous quotes containing the word current:

    Through this broad street, restless ever,
    Ebbs and flows a human tide,
    Wave on wave a living river;
    Wealth and fashion side by side;
    Toiler, idler, slave and master, in the same quick current glide.
    John Greenleaf Whittier (1807–1892)
