Current Status
Today's Second Division contains ten teams, as does the First Division and the Third Division. Most players are part-time professionals. The teams play each other four times with three points for a victory and one point each for a drawn game. In the event of two teams finishing with the same number of points, the respective teams' position is decided on goal difference. If goal difference is equal too, the team who has scored the most goals is placed higher. No other league in Scotland or the UK is as `dynamic' - with one automatic promotion and relegation place to contend for plus 3 promotion playoff places and one relegation playoff place, it means that 6 of the 10 teams are always drawn into contention. In theory, 4 of the 10 teams can change each season.

Famous quotes containing the words current and/or status:
“I have come to believe ... that the stage may do more than teach, that much of our current moral instruction will not endure the test of being cast into a lifelike mold, and when presented in dramatic form will reveal itself as platitudinous and effete. That which may have sounded like righteous teaching when it was remote and wordy will be challenged afresh when it is obliged to simulate life itself.”
—Jane Addams (18601935)
“Anthropologists have found that around the world whatever is considered mens work is almost universally given higher status than womens work. If in one culture it is men who build houses and women who make baskets, then that culture will see house-building as more important. In another culture, perhaps right next door, the reverse may be true, and basket- weaving will have higher social status than house-building.”
—Mary Stewart Van Leeuwen. Excerpted from, Gender Grace: Love, Work, and Parenting in a Changing World (1990)
