San Mateo County Times

In 1996, the Times and the surviving weekly newspapers owned and published by Amphlett were purchased by ANG Newspapers (Alameda Newspaper Group), an Oakland, California-based subsidiary of MediaNews Group, a national chain of newspapers and broadcast stations with corporate offices at 101 W. Colfax Avenue, Denver, Colorado. The daily newspaper was renamed the San Mateo County Times. Today, the only weekly San Mateo County newspaper still published by ANG is the Pacifica Tribune.

Famous quotes containing the words san, county and/or times:

Today, San Francisco has experienced a double tragedy of incredible proportions. As acting mayor, I order an immediate state of mourning in our city. The city and county of San Francisco must and will pull itself together at this time. We will carry on as best as we possibly can.... I think we all have to share the same sense of shame and the same sense of outrage.
    Dianne Feinstein (b. 1933)

I believe the citizens of Marion County and the United States want to have judges who have feelings and who are human beings.
Paula Lopossa, U.S. judge. As quoted in the New York Times, p. B9 (May 21, 1993)

There were times when I felt that I could bear no more. It was the Emergency Ward which almost broke me. I stood one night beside a man who had been caught in a flywheel, and whose body felt like jelly. I wanted him to die quickly, not to go on breathing. Oh, stop breathing. I can’t stand it. Die and stop suffering. I can’t stand it. I can’t.
    Mary Roberts Rinehart (1876–1958)
