San Antonio Winery

The San Antonio Winery is a winery in the city of Los Angeles, and has operated since 1917. It is located in the Lincoln Heights district just eastside of downtown, on Lamar Street just south of North Main Street. The winery also operates a wine shop, restaurant, and banquet hall.

Its former vineyards have been developed with dense industry. The winery uses grapes from the 500-acre (2.0 km2) Riboli family farm in Monterey, a smaller Napa Valley vineyard, and contracts with other Californian growers. It produces varietal, table wines, and dessert wines, both red and white. Bottling and distribution are handled at the winery.

Until fairly recently, San Antonio Winery was the only winery that operated within the city limits of Los Angeles. It had held this distinction since Prohibition.

Famous quotes containing the words san and/or antonio:

We had won. Pimps got out of their polished cars and walked the streets of San Francisco only a little uneasy at the unusual exercise. Gamblers, ignoring their sensitive fingers, shook hands with shoeshine boys.... Beauticians spoke to the shipyard workers, who in turn spoke to the easy ladies.... I thought if war did not include killing, I’d like to see one every year. Something like a festival.
    Maya Angelou (b. 1928)

Socialism can only arrive by bicycle.
—José Antonio Viera Gallo (b. 1943)
