San Antonio Independent School District is a school district based in Downtown San Antonio, Texas, USA.
San Antonio ISD is one of 15 school districts serving San Antonio. San Antonio ISD serves the Downtown, Midtown, and inner city areas of San Antonio. San Antonio ISD also serves a small portion of the city of Balcones Heights. With over 55,000 students (as of 2010), the district is the third largest school district in the Bexar County area.
Though the district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency in 2009, it was downgraded to "academically unacceptable" in 2010.
