Star Wars Career
Witwer, a lifelong Star Wars fan, appeared as lead character Galen Marek aka Starkiller (Darth Vader's secret apprentice) and also as Darth Sidious in the successful multimedia project Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, providing both his voice and likeness to the game's lead character across all of the media. He has since received much praise for his contribution to the role. He reprised his role as Starkiller in the video game Soulcalibur IV, as well as in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. He has also reprised his role of Darth Sidious in the downloadable bonus mission of the sequel. There is speculation that he will reprise his role of Starkiller for the upcoming Star Wars live-action TV series for which Witwer has expressed interest.
Witwer has also made an appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars where he voiced the Son in Season 3 The Mortis trilogy which was a three episode story arc, as well as the iconic Sith Lord Darth Maul in the Season 4 finale episodes "Brothers" and "Revenge". He continued to voice Maul in four Season 5 episodes. Sam also lent his voice for Darth Maul in other projects such as the Star Wars Episode I Brisk commercial as well as the Cartoon Netwroks tv special Lego Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out.
Sam attended The Clone Wars Season 5 Red Carpet Premier in Orlando Florida on August 24, 2012 during Celebration VI along with some of his co-stars Matt Lanter, James Arnold Taylor, Dee Bradley Baker, Tom Kane, Daniel Logan, Stephen Stanton and Ashley Eckstein as well as Supervising Director Dave Filoni. During Celebration VI, Sam also had his very own panel called Sam Witwer "The Maul Within" on Sunday August 26.
