Sad Hindi Songs

Sad Hindi songs is a major genre of Hindi songs, both Filmi and non-film. It represent the rasa in classical rasa classification in Sanskrit/Hindi.

In India, the expression of love is not necessarily limited to male/female lovers. It can be between any two friends, mother and child, or between an individual and the society.

The sweetness of sad songs was expressed by lyricist Shailendra in a song in Patita:

hai.n sabse madhur vo gIt jinhe.n,
ham dad.r ke sur me.n gAte hai.n
