Famous quotes containing the words royal, czech, society and/or sciences:

These are not the artificial forests of an English king,—a royal preserve merely. Here prevail no forest laws but those of nature. The aborigines have never been dispossessed, nor nature disforested.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I’m neither Czech nor Slovak ... I’m still trying to figure out who I am. I think I’m Jewish. But first I want to be human.
    Natasha Dudinska (b. c. 1967)

I am ill, but your being by me
Cannot amend me; society is no comfort
To one not sociable. I am not very sick,
Since I can reason of it.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Normally, the sciences distance themselves from life and the return to it via a detour.
    Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749–1832)
