Before the actual Lifeguards Regiment, two infantry regiments in Bavaria held this name:
- from 1684 to 1778 the later Royal Bavarian Infantry Regiment "König Ludwig" Nr. 10
- from 1778 to 1811 the later Royal Bavarian Infantry Regiment "König" Nr. 1
